Teacher Talks

Understanding Screens, Supporting Students

Kids’ Brains and Screens for Teachers is a timely and highly relevant workshop that explores how digital technologies are shaping students’ learning, behaviour, and wellbeing in

today’s classrooms.

The session presents current statistics on children’s screen use, alongside key insights into brain development and how developing brains respond to highly stimulating digital environments. It also examines the neuroscience of habit formation and the emerging concerns around addictive patterns linked to gaming, social media, and constant online connectivity. These factors are increasingly influencing students’ attention, emotional regulation, sleep, and classroom behaviour.

The workshop also considers the growing role of screens in schools, helping teachers better understand both the opportunities and the challenges of digital learning environments. Participants will gain practical insights and strategies to support healthier technology use and to respond more effectively to the changes many educators are now seeing in their students.
