EVER FEEL LIKE YOU'RE LOSING THEM?

 YOu're NOT ALONE

Fifty years ago, we learned to take smoking seriously because of what it does to the brain. Today, we are facing a parallel public-health issue hiding in plain sight. Excessive screen use is not just a harmless habit - it can alter brain development, impair attention and learning, disrupt mood and sleep, and create patterns of dependence. In many ways, the neurological impact mirrors what we once dismissed about smoking.

Research now makes this impossible to ignore. Studies following thousands of children show that higher screen exposure is linked to slower development in brain areas responsible for attention, language and self-control, and predicts increased ADHD-like symptoms later in life. In infants and toddlers, excessive screen exposure is associated with lower cognitive and language outcomes. It is also consistently linked to difficulties with emotional regulation, anxiety, behaviour, sleep, physical activity and academic performance.

If you are noticing changes in your child - or in your relationship with them - this is not something to 'wait and see'. Early support matters, and help can make a meaningful difference.

ScreenStrong provides science-based, medically informed support for families navigating the challenges of screen use. Our approach is grounded in neuroscience, developmental research and clinical practice.

We work with parents, children, schools, and communities to explain how screen use impacts brain development, behaviour, and mental wellbeing. We provide practical guidance families can apply every day.

Our goal is to equip families and communities with clear, actionable tools to manage screen time, foster healthy routines, and support children in building resilience, social skills, and long-term wellbeing.

Hello,

I'm Lee Grigg, and my passion is helping parents bring peace, connection and harmony back into family life.

I spent years teaching before smartphones and devices became a constant presence in children's lives. After stepping away for eight years to raise my own children, I returned to the classroom - and everything had changed.

Students weren't just different; their world had shifted. Instead of playing in the oval or chatting with friends, many were glued to screens - gaming or scrolling. Literacy had dropped, respect for teachers had waned and focus was harder to find.

That's when I realised screens had quietly taken over childhood - and not in a good way. Like a wake-up call, this realisation became my driving force. I became a ScreenStrong Ambassador and now help families take back control, guiding them to reconnect beyond the screen glow.
